Alaskan boys between the ages of 13 and 17 years old participated in the Priestly Vocations Retreat at St. Therese’s Camp in Wasilla in late September.
The weekend retreat saw 30 boys from different parishes across the archdiocese join together on Sept. 23-24 to learn about the priesthood.
Priests currently serving the archdiocese discussed how each one heard their call to serve, as well as the current need for priests in Alaska and across the globe. Attendees also heard about each pastor’s love for the priesthood and the necessary steps to become a priest.
The retreat also offered attendees confession, adoration, Mass, meals, fellowship, and a service project for attendees to complete.
St. Therese’s Camp will host another Priestly Vocations Retreat for men 18 years old and older on Dec. 9-10. The retreat costs $65 per person. Scholarship opportunities are available; contact Rudy Poglitsh at (907) 232-2066 or campdirector@stthereseak.com for more details.
