Anchorage attorney, convert to Catholicism and Holy Family Cathedral parishioner Tara Clemens has finally been able to enter the Corpus Christi Monastery, a Dominican religious cloister in Menlo Park, Ca. The mission of the cloistered Dominican nuns is to honor and promote devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

Writing in the cathedral’s November issue of the Glad Tidings newsletter, Clemens said: “This summer, with the prayers and generous support of The Labouré Society and friends to resolve my student loans, I am now free to enter formation with the Dominican nuns at Corpus Christi.”

According to Clemens, her entrance date was Nov. 1st.

She has long felt called to the religious life but the order could not accept her with her outstanding student debt.

Over the past several years she has worked to pay down the debt and has also coordinated with the Labouré Society, a non-profit organization that assists aspirants in resolving educational debt so they are free to enter the priesthood or religious life.

Clemens’ recent entrance into the monastery in November is the start of an eight-year discernment process toward taking final, lifelong vows as a cloistered nun.

Congratulations to you Tara for reaching this first important step in your goal. When you first came to The Catholic Daughters of the Americas asking us to support you through the Labore Society I will admit I was sceptical. I did my reasearch on the organization and found it to be very worthwhile as well as Worth my investment! I was also happy to see that our organization on a national level has made them one of our National Charities. God Bless You.
