Archbishop Etienne issues national call to remember hurricane victims

Anchorage Archbishop Paul Etienne called on “Catholics and people of good will across the United States” to remember and support those who have suffered in the wake of hurricanes in Puerto Rico and surrounding islands. As chairman of the Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Etienne issued a joint statement with Bishop Frank Dewane of Venice, Florida, the chair of the USCCB Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development.

Alaska bishops condemn decision to end DACA program

“We, the Catholic bishops of Alaska, remain united in heart and mind with our brother bishops across this nation in condemning the Administration’s decision to suspend DACA,” the Alaska bishop said in a Sept. 4 statement signed by Anchorage Archbishop Paul Etienne, Fairbanks Bishop Chad Zielinski, Bishop-elect of Juneau Andrew Bellisario and Anchorage Archbishop Emeritus Roger Schwietz.
