Catholic school students dress as, aspire to be, saints

In marking the Catholic Church’s celebration of the Solemnity of All Saints, Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School students researched and came to Mass dressed as a saint.

Students researched specific men and women, all who displayed relentless courage and modeled Christian values for later generations of Christians to follow. Among the saints represented during the recent Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Wasilla, were popes, bishops, kings, queens, soldiers, nuns, nurses, fathers, teachers, mothers, priests and peasants to name but a few. During the Mass each student announced the name of the saint they researched and dressed as and to what cause the saint was a patron or patroness.

A reception followed Mass in which students displayed their saint project and answered questions from family and friends.

The aim of the project was to instill in students the belief that they, too, are capable of being saints.
