Summer Catholic camp registration
The inaugural season of St. Therese’s Camp in the Mat-Su Valley begins June 22. $500 essay contest topic; ‘Jesus loves us. How do we spread that love?’
The Court St. Pius X, #1866 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas has announced its annual $500 scholarship competition for junior high Catholic students currently enrolled in a Catholic school or enrolled in any CCD religious education class in the Archdiocese of Anchorage.
The theme of this year’s essays is, “Jesus loves us. How do we spread that love?”

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. According to the group’s website, they donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.”
Native prayer group meets in Wasilla

Alaska Catholic Youth Conference runs June 2-5
Registrations are being accepted for the upcoming Alaska Catholic Youth Conference, which will run June 2-5 at St. Benedict Church and adjacent Lumen Christi High School in Anchorage. This year’s theme is “Put on Christ.”

Last summer a record 239 youth from across Alaska attended the annual gathering. The three-day conference typically includes liturgies with Alaska’s three bishops, social activities, service projects, interactive workshops and music concerts, all aimed at inspiring faith. Young adults to pray at monastery
Anchorage young adults gather each Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament at 2645 E. 72nd Ave., in Anchorage. The group, which is sponsored by the Young Adult Ministry of Holy Family Cathedral, meets for prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Anchorage nuns selling handmade religious items
The Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at Blessed Sacrament Monastery in Anchorage have been busy for the past month prayerfully making rosaries, rosary bracelets, holy medal key chains, spirit zipper pulls, blessed room hangers and many other handmade items of religious jewelry. All sales go to support the sisters and the monastery.
Purchases can be made directly at Blessed Sacrament Monastery in Anchorage at 2645 E. 72nd Ave. during the regular visitor hours, 4-6 p.m. daily. Purchases can also be made by calling 344-3330 to arrange for a showing.
