Staff and students of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Anchorage presented Father Tom Lilly with a surprise gift on April 30 to show gratitude for his leadership in the renovation of their school building.
Father Lilly is pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, which sponsors the K-6th grade school. Last year the school underwent extensive remodeling, which included the installation of sacred statues, stained glass and religious themed murals — all aimed at helping foster students’ engagement with and understanding of the Catholic faith.
During the gift presentation this spring, Father Lilly was given a framed photo mosaic of the “Jesus and the Children” statue that is located in the school’s new entrance. The print is made with a mosaic of hundreds of photos of the faces of students of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School.
“I’ve been here since kindergarten and can honestly say that the remodel has brightened each day for us this year as we learn in our beautiful new school,” said sixth grader Alice McConnell upon presenting the gift to Father Lilly. “It is not possible to thank you enough for all you do for us. We love you, Fr. Tom!”
