The State of Alaska sponsored a workshop, open to all state educators, instructing them how to assist students — elementary age and older — who wish to transition away from their biological sex and identify otherwise.
Alaskan educators were urged push for sex education that includes explicit instruction on condom use, how to procure and use a wide range of contraceptives and how to understand and accept gender identity and sexual orientation, among other topics.
I feel it is an injustice for me to come in, just as the archbishop, and tell the church, “Here’s what we’re going to do.” That’s not my style. I will be a leader and I will, at the appropriate time, share my vision. But I will collaborate with pastors and parish and diocesan leaders in setting that vision in motion.
Safe housing is one of the most basic needs of all people. We are an integral part of addressing homelessness in Anchorage. We provide the most emergency shelter beds in the city and we have a large cadre of case managers working diligently to move individuals and families into permanent housing.

This marks the sixth time since 1996 that the ACLU has sued the State of Alaska or one of its subdivisions over pro-life laws or policies. The ACLU has a proven track record: Alaska Supreme Court decisions stemming from ACLU abortion litigation have all ended by striking down pro-life measures.
