Red Mass cancelled for this year

The annual Red Mass, celebrated for all those who practice law, will not take place in the Anchorage Archdiocese this year. Originally scheduled for Sept. 25 at Holy Family Cathedral, Anchorage Archbishop Roger Schwietz needed to cancel the Mass due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, he encourages all Catholics to focus their attention on a document from the U.S Conference of Catholic Bishops entitled, “Forming Consciences For Faithful Citizenship,” which can be found online at usccb.org/issues-and-action/faithful-citizenship.

The Archdiocese Holy Spirit Center will facilitate an overview and discussion of Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship on Wednesdays, 7 pm, Oct.5 – Nov. 2. The U.S. Bishops’ statement highlights how we can approach difficult decisions on the upcoming elections. What principles from our Catholic faith should we consider, and what role does our conscience play?
