Catholic schools across the Anchorage Archdiocese will join in the annual National Catholic Schools Week this month to celebrate Catholic education in the United States.
The theme for this year’s Jan. 23-31 celebration is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”
Area schools will mark the weeklong observance with Masses, open houses and outreach for students, families, parishioners and the wider community.
Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to the church, the communities and the nation. Local schools plan to run radio ads, serve at soup kitchens and senior homes and spread the word about the benefits of Catholic schooling to local parishes.
In the Anchorage Archdiocese, students from Lumen Christi High School, Holy Rosary Academy, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School and Our Lady of the Valley School in Wasilla will gather for the annual Catholic Schools Week Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Anchorage on Jan. 28.
For information about specific events and activities planned at each school, contact the schools directly.
