When those who oppose the church walk away from a disagreement with her they should do so with the sure knowledge that they are loved and respected.
Below is a recap of the February meeting that dealt with successes, failures, frustrations and ideas on how to improve communication with teens.
Archbishop Etienne’s homily for this year’s Catholic Schools Mass focused on the Sermon on the Mount, wherein Jesus tells the crowd that the humble, meek and lowly and poor will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. The reading ended with Jesus telling his followers that they would suffer because of their faith in him.
The point here is not to review general threats to Christian morality in Alaska but to call attention to a very specific challenge that should be on the radar of all parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, godparents and others in positions of responsibility over today’s youth.
The State of Alaska is continuing its efforts to push educators in encouraging children to experiment with alternative genders including transitioning away from their biological sex.
Facing the prospect of massive cuts in federal funding, Planned Parenthood in Alaska is pressuring Sen. Lisa Murkowski to support its work, including elective abortions.
In an effort to remove federal funding from the nation’s largest abortion chain pro-life advocates are planning “Defund Planned Parenthood” rallies in Alaska and across the country. On Feb. 11 rallies will be held at Planned Parenthood locations throughout the United States, including in Anchorage.
Alaska’s Catholic bishops issued a statement on Feb. 3 regarding President Donald Trump’s Jan. 27 executive order regarding immigration. The letter was signed by Anchorage Archbishop Paul Etienne, Fairbanks Bishop Chad Zielinski, Juneau Bishop Edward Burns and Anchorage Archbishop Emeritus Roger Schwietz.
