The co-founder of the international 40 Days for Life campaign of prayer to end abortion will be in Anchorage for a special rally on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Shawn Carney helped launch the peaceful prayer vigils in 2004 in Texas. Since then the movement has seen more than 3,000 individual campaigns in 539 cities with 625,000 participating in the vigils, according to the group’s website.
The group also reports that nearly 9,000 lives have been “spared from abortion.” Additionally 101 abortion workers have reportedly quit their jobs and walked away from the abortion industry and the group says 57 abortion facilities completely shut down following the vigils.
According to local organizers, Carney will visit Anchorage to “energize and inspire us with stories of the ways that God has answered prayers throughout the country through the 40 Days campaigns and increase our faith that God will also do great things through out campaign here in Alaska.”
The special rally takes place during the current campaign which runs through Nov. 2 with prayers being offered each day outside the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at 4001 Lake Otis Parkway. The entire vigil schedule is available online.
