St. Andrew Church in Eagle River will hold a funeral Mass for one of their former clergy, Deacon Jim Hostman. He died on March 27, 2017, at the age of 74. He had retired and was living near Alsea, Oregon, at the time of his death.
The funeral Mass, which was delayed because of distance and his wife Gini Hostman’s health issues, will take place on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m.
According to Gini Hostman, her husband died in his home after battling with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.
“He loved serving in Anchorage and Eagle River,” she wrote in an email. “Thank you for remembering him.”
Deacon Hostman originally served as at Holy Family Cathedral. For most of his ministry, however, he was assigned to St. Andrew Church.
All priests, deacons and religious are invited to the liturgy, along with parishioners from across the Anchorage Archdiocese.

Deacon Jim Hostman was my first deacon when I was pastor at St. Andrew Church. Deacon Hostman was involved in prison ministry there. My prayers go out to Gini and his Deacon Hostman family.
