Editor’s Note: Below is a description of some of the upcoming Advent and Christmas events planned in the Anchorage Archdiocese. Stay tuned for more in the coming days.

Christmas album to support student scholarships

On Dec. 13, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s 5:30 p.m. Mass will be followed by a reception honoring the memory of Deacon Ken Donohue. The local music group Trinity will be selling their new CD “A Winter’s Night” for $10 each and donating half of all sales to the Deacon Ken Donohue Memorial Scholarship Fund which is distributed on a needs basis by the principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School to make a Catholic education possible to students who would otherwise not be able to attend Catholic school.

Trinity’s first Christmas album includes 12 songs featuring the season’s best-loved hymns, spiritual favorites and three new songs.

The song, “I Am Yours,” was written by the trio in memory of a homily given by Deacon Donohue who passed away in 2011. CDs of the new album are available at Vine & Branches Christian Bookshoppe, St. Paul’s Corner and online at iTunes and Amazon.com. The four-hour time of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament with special prayers will take place immediately following the 7 p.m. Mass. The evening of prayer begins in the parish chapel at about 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. Each hour will involve prayers for life, a rosary and Catholic hymns. There will also be time for silent meditation. From 8-9 p.m. the group will pray in unity with fellow Catholics in all U.S. time zones. The members of St. Juan Diego Council No. 12492 have been sponsoring this annual prayer service since December 2003.
