Presentation on C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkien: ‘Awkward Allies, Lifelong Friends’

Dr. Bruce Edwards, a scholar, author and professor who has specialized in the works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, will explore the profound friendship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien in a Feb. 17 presentation at the Willow Community Center, starting at 7 p.m.

Lewis and Tolkien, who first met in 1926 and served together at the University of Oxford for nearly 30 years, shared a lifelong, interdependent friendship until Lewis’ death in 1963. During those years, these literary giants produced a rich, illustrious canon of fiction, fantasy, Christian apologetics and critical essays that remain vibrant and highly influential today.
